| Faculty regalia and choral robes are notorious for the monotony they create when worn. This is why most people are moving away from the classic gowns which were by default black in color to more colorful and pretty PhD regalia. The same also applies to the doctoral regalia. Choral robes normally come with stoles; these are accessories that are provided with them. Stoles are pieces of material that wrap around the neck and fall on the back of the gown. The color of the choir robes depends on the churches preference and taste or the organization that the choir sings for. Choir robes normally come with matching stoles or they can be color coded. This means choosing different colors for the choir robe and for the stole but ensuring that the colors match by perusing through the color wheel. For example having blue choral robes with yellow stoles to create a beautiful contrast and avoid the monotony of having a blue choir gown and a blue stole. The colors may also be different depending on the occasion the choir is singing for. For Christmas or during the Christmas seasons, it is common place to see choirs wearing red choral robes to fit in with the season. The color also depends on the audience, for example when choirs are going to sing for an all children audience they should wear very colorful robes. When they are going to sing for a mature audience, such like in corporate events then subtle colors such as maroon or dark blue to fit with the setting. For faculty regalia the accessories are more compared to choral robes. For faculty regalia the gowns come with graduation caps, tassels and honor chords. Graduation caps are normally square shaped on top for faculty regalia and oval shaped for doctoral regalia although this is not cast on stone. It is not uncommon to see universities having custom made graduation caps made for their graduation ceremonies. These graduation caps normally have honor cords hanging on the side. These are made of a wide range of materials that suit the gown and go well with it. Another accessory that comes with faculty regalia is the tassel. Some universities prefer to have their faculty regalia in one color such as black or blue and only identify the different faculties by the color of their stoles. This is for those universities that do not want an overly colorful ceremony with all the faculties in different colored gowns, but still want to maintain a difference between the faculties. Therefore, with all these accessories there is no need for your graduation ceremony to be a dull, less fashionable event. All you have to do is be creative with the accessories and also have them custom made to fit your personal style, taste and preferences. The same applies to choral robes all you have to do is have well designed gowns for different events or occasions and also have colorful stoles to make the choir lively.
